Airbus introduced plans for a new CityAirbus, a fully electric, zero emissions vehicle designed to carry up to four passengers.
Airbus is moving further into the Urban Air Mobility market with the new CityAirbus NextGen eVTOL (electric Vertical TakeOff and landing) vehicle, designed to carry up to four passengers.
The recently introduced demonstrator of the eVTOL vehicle features fixed wings, a V-shaped tail with a horizontal stabilizer, and a lightweight carbon fiber composite fuselage. Batteries power the eight propellers and eight electric motors. The unique design has no tilting parts and lighter weight components, increasing safety when compared with traditional aircraft. The CityAirbus NextGen meets the highest certification standards in the EASA SC-VTOL Enhanced Category.
The CityAirbus has a range of 80 km and will reach a cruise speed of up to 120 km/h. Sound levels are below 65 dB(A) during fly-over and below 70 dB(A) during landing.
